1-on-1 Evaluation
Being a dancer involves doing repetitive movement patterns that place high amounts of stress on bones, tendons, ligaments, and muscle. Most healthcare professionals are unfamiliar with the details of dance training which leads to unspecific diagnosis and treatment. To understand the stress that is being placed on the body, it is key that we look at move and prescribe the perfect plan.
During our first visit together we will:
Figure out exactly what the root cause of your problem is. If you want to fix a problem forever, you have to understand where it’s coming from.
Cooperatively develop a plan to calm down symptoms, re-build your movement & irritated body tissues, and prevent your problem from coming back.
Decide if our skillset is the right fit for what you need, or if you instead need a referral to another qualified healthcare provider.

Cross Training for Dancers
The foundation of dance has changed significantly over the years and a dancer’s training should as well. High level jumps, complex turning combinations, acro skills, pointe training and competitive dance all require a flexible, mobile, strong and resilient athlete. Your training should reflect this as well! That’s where I come in. I will create a custom plan that reflects your goals as a dancer. This may look like 1-on-1 training sessions, virtual visits, an independent program or a combination.
Dry Needling
Dry needling is an incredibly effective form of intramuscular manual therapy performed by trained Physical Therapists using a thin, filiform needle. This treatment is directed at muscle tissue to decrease pain, improve muscle function, and reduce counterproductive muscle tone (sometimes felt as “tightness” or a “knot”). Dry needling does an excellent job of calming down symptoms but the long-term transformation that our clients experience comes from identifying the root cause of your problem, strengthening body tissues, and optimizing movement.
We have found Dry Needling to be an especially helpful treatment in the management of:
Low back pain
Neck pain
Calf Strains & Achilles tendinopathy
Hamstring strains & hamstring tendinopathy
Gluteal strains & gluteal tendinopathy
Elbow pain
Piriformis syndrome
Cervicogenic (“from the neck”) headaches
Vasopneumatic Compression
Pneumatic compression promotes quicker recovery by compressing the limbs to promote circulation.
Benefits:
decreases inflammation
boosts circulation
reduces delayed onset muscle soreness
decreases swelling and stiffness
relieves muscle fatigue
Workshops
Provided in a group atmosphere, workshops are designed to educate dancers on topics such as injury management, self massage techniques, safe stretching, improving turn out, increasing jump height or injury prevention. They can be incorporated into summer intensives, camps or regularly to promote longevity for dancers.
Pre-Pointe Screen
Pointe requires mobility, strength and control to ensure it is done safely. Screens assess the dancer’s stability, control, body awareness and technique to determine whether her body is ready to cope with the increased load that is associated with pointe work. Dancers are provided with a customized home exercise program in order to begin this skill safely.
